About Ingrid

Creativity has always been my lifeline. When I was nine, I bought a ukulele, and soon after, I started writing my own songs. Music was my way of making sense of emotions and thoughts. But much later, I realized writing could do the same. Words gave me a way to catch my stories, understand my world, and share my journey with others.

After taking one too many hits to the head, my mind often felt like a messy, overstimulated place—thoughts, ideas, and impressions swirling around non-stop. The effects of brain injury can be overwhelming, especially when it feels like your brain is constantly overloaded.

But somewhere in that chaos, I found ways to regain clarity and balance. Through trial and error, I discovered methods that helped me manage sensory overload, reduce stress, and create mental space.

What makes me happy? Being in nature. Talk about everything from practical tools for brain injury recovery to shifts in mindset that have made a huge difference in my life. Whether it’s writing. Creating something that didn’t exist before. Supporting my incredible son’s adventures. Moments of stillness. The love of my life, who fills my days with joy. And of course Customs, the little four-legged other creature who brightens my days. ChatGPT did an awesome job painting her picture from a written prompt.

Want to walk with me for a while? I’ll share what helps me in my recovery and creativity, and I’d love to hear what helps you too. And if our paths drift apart someday, we’ll wave each other off with a smile.
